Feedback

My wife and I rented the Cavallino Verde house in Umbria for the month of June. Everything was as promised by Mario, the owner. The house was even more inviting and comfortable than the website photos suggest. Nor did the photos fully convey how wonderful and serene the panoramic view from the front was. The house is close to amenities. It’s about a 5 minute drive from the nearest village (Fratta Todina). Although it’s a small village it has a small supermarket, butcher, fruit and vegetable stand, and bakery so most provisions are available. Marsciano, a larger community, is 10 minutes away and virtually anything is available there. There is an open-air market on Mondays in Marsciano and we visited it weekly. There are also several great restaurants and wineries a short distance from the house. Two aspects that we particularly liked about the house’s location are the stunningly beautiful rural landscape and its proximity to any number of well-preserved Italian hill towns, both the small and unheralded ones and those that make it into a guidebook. With few exceptions, we did not travel more than 45 minutes from the house the entire time that we were there. We chose the house because it had four bedrooms and two living rooms. We expected family and friends to visit us throughout the month, with as many as eight people staying in the house at various times, and wanted to make sure that we would not be on top of one another. We had eight people on several occasions and the house and expansive veranda delivered in this regard. We never felt crowded or in each other’s way. The house is well appointed with bedding, towels and kitchen equipment. Beds were very comfortable and the bedrooms were all equipped with reading lights by the beds. We were there in the summer and the property is in the country so mosquitos were a constant issue. The windows and doors all have screens so with diligence the mosquitos can be managed on the inside. But outside is a different story. Most people visiting us were fine. Some, including me, had an intense reaction to the bites. We had some issues with water supply but Mario was immediately responsive and it seems that the problem has been addressed. This is also not unusual in a rural setting in an area dealing with intermittent dry periods. Whenever an issue emerged Mario responded quickly, courteously and he addressed it. These shortcomings were more than offset by the advantages of this beautiful property. If you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable, relaxing place to spend a week or a month in a spectacular part of Italy, this will suit you. We would stay there again, but maybe in another season, to dodge those mosquitos.

Mario was a dedicated and kind host, from the organization of our stay through to the elaborate introduction to his beautiful property. He made sure that each room and detail was arranged just perfectly, and the house had everything we needed (in 6!) to enjoy a relaxing holiday weekend in the countryside. Walking around the property was a dream- a truly secluded place with views of the surrounding hilltop towns and sprawling vineyards and olive groves. The kitchen was one of the best equipped I have ever seen, and made our Easter feast one to remember! The downstairs room is quite chilly, but lighting a fire in the rustic fireplace set both the ambiance and temperature to the perfect degree. We enjoyed meals outside and savored in the simple relaxation that, these days, is a gift in and of itself! Mario was easy to reach at any point and even checked in with us a few hours into our stay. A true "hospitalian"! Highly recommended!

Mario is the perfect host. His communications ahead of our arrival were excellent. He met us on arrival with cake and wine (both home made), and made us feel very much at home. The location is wonderful, with easy (car) access to a host of major sites ( eg Assissi, Orvieto) and small hill- top towns and vineyards. The view from the terrace is unbelievable, both day and night, looking along the Tiber valley over a host of small towns to Perugia in the distance. We stayed for a week and were very sad to have to move on. Richard, Beatty, Jan and Martin

We spent a month with family and friends at Cavallino Verde and it has been the vacation that we all wanted. A magnificent and big house to spend your holidays in touch with nature and a peacefulness environment. It is located in an exceptional place with beautiful views onto the Tevere valley which lets you visit Umbria from the center of the region. Mario has been attentive, polite and close to us, making possible our holidays that we will remember always. Mario, thank you for everything and we hope to came back. Jose y Blanca
